Butterfly

Crochet Butterfly

I use a standing stitch to start each Round. But you can use chains if you prefer (1ch for sc and 3ch for dc).

Yarn: Small amounts of 4 different colours (3 for the wings and 1 for the body).

Picot: after doing the chains slip stitch into the stitch before the chain.

Wings:

Each round is started on the same side in a different colour (no turning).

Magic circle

Rnd1. sc, dc, *2ch, 3dc, repeat from * 4 times, dc, sc. 4 chain spaces

Rnd2. In each chain space 3dc, 2ch, 3dc. 4 chain spaces

Rnd3. In 1st dc from Rnd1: dc

In 1st dc from Rnd2: Slip stitch

            In 1st (and 4th) chain space: 4dc, 2tr, 3chain picot, 2tr, 4dc.

In between the dc clusters: long sc into middle dc from Rnd1.

            In 2nd (and 3rd) chain space: 6dc, 2chain picot, 6dc.

After 4th chain space: Slip Stitch into last dc of Rnd2. Dc into last sc of Rnd1.

Body:

Join with slip stitch to bottom sc. Chain about 12 to 13 stitches. Until its long enough to go all the way around. Join to 1st slip stitch.  Use the tails to sew the body in place, leaving the ends at the top one on each side. Tie the 2 tails together (making the head). Cut the tails about the length of the wings (antennas).

I folded the butterfly's in half and hang them from a cocktail stick.

    1. Can you be more specific? What is it you are having trouble with?
Rnd 1 is done into a magic circle (also called magic ring). If you are having trouble the magic circle you could also try a small chain circle (maybe 4 or 5 chains) you can always use the tail to close the hole when weaving the ends in.

  2. Unfortunately my comment has nothing to do with the question above. My issue is that when I wanted to print out the directions an add was covering most of the directions. Very disappointed I couldn't use this pattern.

    1. I am sorry to say that I don't have a printer friendly version of any of my patterns. The blog layout is designed to be viewed online.

    2. I sympathise with you. I wish there was a way to get rid of those ads or at least minimise them. Some have an X on top right hand corner you can click and ad disappears but google notice is still there . Uurgghh!!!!!! A real nuisance.
