African Flower Baby Blanket

African flower hexagon baby blanket

To make this blanket you first need to make all the hexagons and half hexagons and then join them together before adding a border.

I used just under 600g Stylecraft Special DK (450g of white and 150g of colours). And a 4.5mm hook.

Please note that this pattern is written using US crochet terminology.

ch à Chain Stitch
sc à Single crochet
dc à Double crochet
hdc àHalf double crochet
hdc2tog à Half double crochet 2 together
RS à Right side (the front of blanket facing towards you)
WS à Wrong side (back facing towards you)
[…] à Stitch totals and end of Row/Rnd

African Flower Hexagon

African flower hexagon There are lots of charts online for the African Flower. Most of them are basically the same. There are 2 differences between most of them and my version. One is on round 5 where I only crochet into the back loops. And the other is that I have 2 rounds of dc.

Here is my version:
Each flower has its own 3 colours (Centre, Petals & Outline). The flowers are then made into hexagons using the main blanket colour (White).

Twisted Hat

Twisted hat. Free crochet pattern.

This pattern can be used to make a hat of any size from baby to adult. I haven't add sizes to my pattern so you need to how big to make each part. If you are unsure of hat sizes a simple internet search of "crochet hat size chart" will bring up lots of charts.

This pattern can also be made with any type of yarn you prefer, or have at hand!
To give you an idea I used Worsted weight yarn (US 4) and a 4.5mm hook. The adult hat used 50g of white.
